LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) heard the case against collection of development tax on Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) filed by the Azhar Saddique advocate. Ministry of Energy has submitted the reply before the court on Monday.
During the hearing the counsel for appellant argued that the price of imported Liquefied petroleum gas is Rs81000 MT and the locally produced prices are Rs 94000 per ton.
Beside the low prices of local liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), the government of Pakistan is importing the LPG which is destroying local LPG industry.
He prayed before the court that the government of Pakistan should remove taxes on locally produced liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and impose taxes on imported LPG which promotes the local industry.
For the imposition of taxes on imported Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) the dollar may get strong on a level, he added.
On the other side, representative of ministry of energy submitted the reply with arguments that government is not imposing development tax on imported LPG.
