KARACHI: The Ministry of Ports and Shipping has cancelled the illegal appointments of more than 350 employees in the Port Qasim Authority and Karachi Port Trust. These recruitments were made in the tenure of former federal minister for ports and shipping Babar Ghouri.
It is mentioned here, that the administration of PQA and KPT had made illegal appointment on political grounds few years ago ignoring the merit.
Federal Minister for Ports and Shipping Kamran Michael told Customs Today that his ministry had removed more than 350 illegal appointees from the PQA and KPT. “The administration has verified and checked the documents of the employees and found that 350 were appointed on political grounds”, the minister added.
The sources told Customs Today that these recruitments were made despite the Expenditure Wing of the Finance Division notification No F.7(1)Exp.IV/2011 to Karachi Port Trust (KPT), Port Qasim Authority (PQA) and Gwadar Port Authority (GPA), asking them not to make any fresh recruitment.
However, the political reconciliation resulted in appointment of large number of people putting extra burden on the national exchequer, sources added.
Interestingly, the CBA, Peoples Labour Union and the Peoples Officers Union got a little share of jobs that time and the unions kept mum on the whole issue, sources concluded.
