MEXICO CITY: The Mexican states of Sonora and Sinaloa exported some 215,000 metric tons of fishmeal to China in 2015; almost double the quantity seen five years ago.
The state of Sonora is the largest exporter of fishmeal, with export volumes of 213,078t, as Sinaloa shipped 1,834t to China, according to Mexico’s Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock, Rural Development, Fisheries and Food (Sagarpa).
Back in 2010, Mexico started exporting fishmeal to China, with expectations to sell 120,000t.
Apart from China, Mexico also exports to the US, Malaysia, France, Holland, Indonesia, Japan, Bangladesh, Chile, Greece, England, Germany, Lithuania, Spain, Italy and Norway.
