KARACHI: A high level meeting of the officials concerned was held at the Directorate General of Afghan Transit Trade to review the current situation at Torkhum border after days of closure.
Chairing the meeting, Director General Transit Trade Muhammad Javed Ghani reviewed the progress of work on the construction of Custom Border complexes at Torkham, Chaman-Spin Boldak, and Ghulam Khan which aimed at facilitating trade between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
On the other hand, after the opening of the Torkhum border, strict monitoring of transit trade consignments was suggested during the meeting.
The meeting also discussed the construction of modern infrastructure at Chaman and Wagah borders. Chaman is another transit points for trade with Afghanistan while Wagah is the only open land route connecting India to Central Asia.
