KARACHI: Model Customs Collectorate of Appraisement-East on the directives of Collector Najeeb-ur-Rehman Abbasi has issued the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for recovering of evaded duty/taxes to all the departments concerned.
FBR sources informed Customs Today that the SOPs have been circulated in the entire section of Research and Development (R&D) with a view to ensure speedy recovery of the national exchequer in terms of duty/taxes by the end of the month i.e. June, 2014.
“The R&D Section asked to check the details of importers’ consignments for last three years and also take the clearing agents into loop, who cleared the consignments,” sources added.
It further revealed that the R&D Section also directed to take close look into the violation of SRO 811 (1)/2009 and SRO 670.
“SOPs have been prepared in order to attain as much revenue as possible by the end of the Fiscal Year 2013-14,” sources further added.
On the other hand, the importers were of the view that Pakistan Customs and FBR for the sake of achieving the revenue targets were adopting the strategy to recover the revenue by harassing them.
