ISLAMABAD: Majority of officers from BPS 1 to 16, numbering 6,517, belong to the Customs and Excise Department have coveted Pakistan Customs Service (PCS) while only 412 officers opted for Inland Revenue Service (IRS).
The board has obtained the option of the employees of the Customs and Excise Group for joining PCS or IRS. In this regard, the FBR has issued an order on rationalisation of sanctioned strength of customs and sales tax officers from BPS 1 to 16.
The FBR has also constituted a committee headed by FBR Member Admin to review existing strength of Pakistan Customs Service and Inland Revenue Service. The committee will also finalise names of BPS 1 to 16 officers, who intend to opt for PCS or IRS, respectively. The committee also included officers from other wings like FBR Legal Wing, etc.
