FAISALABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO), Mainwali, has recovered a huge quantity of non-duty paid computer monitors and LCDs.
Sources told Customs Today that Additional Collector Muhammad Saeed Asad received information regarding some smuggling attempts. He formed a customs team comprising Chaudhary Muhammad Sardar (superintendent), Azhar Hussain, Muhammad Umar (inspector), and Muhammad Riasat, (Driver), Faiz Ahmed, Sahir Ahmed, and Muhammad Abdullah (sepoys).
The ASO team intercepted a Container No, CMAU 5453344 which was loaded on the Nissan Truck bearing registration No TLB- 808 near toll plaza, M.M Alam Road Mainwali which was coming from Karachi. During the investigation of the truck the team recovered huge quantity of smuggled computer monitors along with Key board, Mouse, LCD assorted brand and model (4010-Pcs) and uised laptop (200-Pcs).
The ASO team asked the driver and his companion, who were identified as Shair khan son of Zubair Khan (Driver), and Owner of items Jamshaid Ali Son of Ghulam muhammad to produce legal documents regarding the possession of goods. On the demand driver produced the copy of GD No, KPPI-HC-9738 copy attached in his defense and informed that the above importer goods were filed from Karachi port Qasim and then were booked from truck adda Al Anayat Transport company Karachi against truck receipt No, 8220 For Rawalpindi. According to the information the quantity description of the items have been checked and found not tallied. The ASO team seized the goods and forwarded the case to the customs Adjudication for further proceedings. ,
Customs officials said that the value of seized items is more than Rs4.9 million that items have market valued Rs 16.3 million the team also intercepted a Nissan truck Worth Rs 3,000,000.
