INDORE: Madhya Pradesh state excise department has seized 600 litres of foreign liquor worth more than Rs one crore from the residential apartment of a city based trader Rajesh Wadhwani here on Sunday. Approximately, in 65 cartons the bottles were stored.
A team of six excise officials were tracking Wadhwani who was alleged to carry-out home-delivery of the liquor to his customers. The cartons have been seized from the flat at Dayal Apartment near Tulsi Nagar.
Based on the information of a source, the department had carried out the operation. Accused Rajesh Wadhwani has been arrested by the department who is alleged to carry out illegal supply of alcohol to his customers. Residing at Saket Nagar, Wadhwani owns a retail store of watches at Apollo Tower.
Amar Singh Sisodia, Assisstant District Officer (ADO), Madhya Pradesh state excise department, said, “Foreign liquor was stored in the boxes, at his flat. Each box had 6 bottles of foreign liquor. The accused was carrying out illegal supply of the large variety of alcohol. Further investigation is still on and we are finding out of if any other information concerning it comes out.”
