ISLAMABAD: Leather goods exports increased by 9.89 percent in the first five months of current fiscal year 2013-14 against the corresponding period of last year.
The leather goods worth $263.097 million were exported in July-November 2013-14 against $239.421 million of last year.
According to relevant data, leather garments exports increased by 8.72 percent during the period amounted to $179.66 million against $ 165.257 million last year.
Similarly leather gloves exports increased by 13.85 percent which stood at $78.646 million during July-November 2013-14 against $69.079 million during July-November 2012-13.
In the meanwhile, other leather goods showed a negative growth of 5.85 percent during the corresponding period. A month on month analysis shows that the leather manufactures export also increased by 9.45 percent and decreased by 8.8 percent in November 2013 against November 2012.
The exports in November 2013 were recorded at $45.94 million whereas in November 2012 and October 2013 the value of exports remained $41.997 million and $50.4 million.
Similarly, leather garments exports swelled by 8.39 percent and declined by 7.98 percent in November 2013 against November 2012.
The leather gloves exports also rose from $10.589 million in November 2012 to $12.362 million in November 2013, posting a growth of 16.74 percent.
Other leather goods’ exports declined from 1.062 million in November 2012 and $0.8 million in October 2013 to $0.716 million in November 2013.
