NEW YORK: The latest version of WhatsApp v2.11.541 is still in beta version. This is the version that brought along the voice calling feature to the Android users. However, this feature is long gone and only those who had activated it can still access it on their Android devices.
Despite the short life of the WhatsApp voice calling feature, it is expected that the feature will soon be released for all users including iOS, Android as well as Windows Phone users.
WhatsApp voice calling feature is not the only new feature that came along with this beta version of WhatsApp v2.11.541. Apart from these calls, users of the latest version can also notice a new pop-up that appears when you tap on a contact in your WhatsApp list of contacts. In the new window that pops up, you will be able to see a picture of the selected contact in addition to three other options that include “Message”, “Voice call” and an info button that shows more details about the selected contact.
There is a catch to this pop-up. It only works on those devices that had seen the voice calling feature activated; otherwise, downloading the APK file of WhatsApp v2.11.541 will not show you this option since it has been removed by the company. Furthermore, your device must also be running on the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop.
WhatsApp Web for Firefox, Opera, Safari and other browsers
WhatsApp Web was introduced with the last version of WhatsApp. However, this feature came in to meet numerous mixed reactions where it had left out the users of the iOS devices as well as those using web browsers other than Google Chrome.
This meant that only the users of Chrome could access WhatsApp Web services on their PCs. Alternatively, those not using Chrome were forced to download this web browser just because of accessing WhatsApp. This is no longer going to be the case when the new version of WhatsApp v2.11.541 is released for all users. Even though there is no official news of exactly which browsers will be added to the already supported Chrome browser, it is expected that the three major browsers that were left out will be the first to be taken care of. These are Mozilla Firefox, Opera as well as Safari.
How to install WhatsApp v2.11.541 APK on an Android phone
As noted above, this application is still in its beta version and as such, it has not been availed in the official Google Play Store for official download. Nevertheless, it is still possible to download and install the latest beta version of WhatsApp on your Android smartphone.
This is a very simple process. All you need is to visit the official WhatsApp website and download the latest APK file of WhatsApp v.2.11.541 onto your Android smartphone. You can also use your PC to download the WhatsApp APK file and send it to your smartphone via a USB cable. Since this app is not from Google Play Store, you’ll first of all have to allow the installation of apps from sources other than this official app store for Android phones. Go to your phone’s settings and select Applications. Check the “Unknown sources” option and then go back to the downloaded APK file. Make sure that you have uninstalled the currently installed WhatsApp before you install the latest WhatsApp v2.11.541 APK on your Android phone.
Once the new WhatsApp beta version has been installed on your device, it will automatically detect the backup created by the uninstalled WhatsApp version and you can restore it in order to recover all your conversations.
