DUBAI: A delegation of Ministry of Labour has visited to Dubai Customs Department to upgrade the Post Clearance Audit (PCA) system and share its expertise with local and federal authorities and to publicize best practices and initiatives.
Inshrah Bawzir, Director of Internal Audit Office, Ministry of Labour, headed the deputation, which comprised Mohsen Mitwali, Audit Expert, Maryam Busmit, Internal Auditor, and Madiha Al Amri, Internal Auditor.
From Dubai Customs, Younis Othman, IT Director, Ekhlas Al Mutawa, Director of Post Clearance Audit Department, Tariq Abdul Mutajali, Senior Manager of Coprorate Audit, Ahmed Al Mushara, Team Leader – Audit Department, and Nomaned Babdo, PCA Project Manager, met with the MoL visitors.
“We briefed the MoL delegates about the mechanism behind the new technology, which makes Dubai Customs ‘ PCA processes smart and fully integrated. The new system is one of the most advanced PCA systems in the world, and definitely the best in the region,” he added.
DC’s IT Director noted that the newly revamped system will be showcased to WCO members at the organization’s headquarter in Brussels, as per an official request from the WCO, to explore the possibility of implementing the cutting-edge system in other customs administrations worldwide.
Ekhlas Al Mutawa, welcomed the visiting delegation, and reiterated Dubai Customs ‘ willingness to put all of its projects and innovative initiatives at the disposal of local and federal agencies, as part of its continued cooperation and synergy with stakeholders for the common good of the UAE.
Al Mutawa also stated that “All employees at the Post Clearance Audit Department received the needed training to keep up the technical development of the system. Seeking to reach the optimal state of both technical and professional levels, we catered tailored courses and workshops addressing the latest tools and practices of auditing. This has enhanced the efficiency of customs work and substantially increased Dubai’s trade volumes thanks to better transparency of customs clearance process.”
Dubai Customs team delivered a presentation explaining the newly adopted system, which is a smart integrated scheme interconnected with other systems at different levels. The system realizes the comprehensive vision of evaluating the status of declarations. The team also highlighted its functional capacities, pertaining the ability to safeguard customs returns, enhancing DC’s operational efficiency and enabling Dubai Customs to execute the best audit and client reporting methodologies.
