KARACHI: The son-quota restoration movement of Karachi Port Trust (KPT’s) employees has threatened to besiege the Sindh Governor House in case of non-fulfillment of their demands.
The decision was taken in a meeting convened by president of KPT son-quota restoration movement Lala Nazeer.
According to details, the sit-in protest of “Son-Quota Restoration Movement” of Karachi Port Trust (KPT) employees has completed 40-days.
The KPT employees continued to stage their protest demonstration from November 9 in front of main KPT Building located at Eduljee Dinshaw Road for fulfill of its demands comprised of restoration of son-quota and medical facilities for the retired employees of KPT.
According to details, the KPT workers of “Son-Quota Restoration Movement” have demanded of the authorities concerned for the restoration of son-quota and to restore medical facilities for retired KPT employees.
Chairman Son-Quota Restoration Movement, KPT Lala Nazeer while talking to Customs Today reiterated that the workers will not end their sit-in protest till the fulfillment of their legal demands, adding that the employees will besiege the Sindh Governor House in the next phase of the protest, as the employees are struggling for the restoration of son-quota in KPT for last 2-years.
“KPT management had not been recruited a single employee on son-quota since 1996 despite the clear directives of former Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gillani in the year 2012”, he added.
He further disclosed that more than 100 recruitments have been made on political basis since 1996, but not even a single employee was being recruited on “son-quota” in this tenure.
He vowed that the employees will continue their sit-in protest till the fulfillment of their demands, as the KPT management has completely blind-eye over the issues of the lower grade employees.
