KARACHI: A delegation of Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry called on Chief Collector Appraisement-South Nasir Masroor at his chamber on Wednesday.
The KCCI delegation comprised present and former chairman of Customs and Valuation Sub-committee Azhar Puri and Saqib Goodluck respectively, immediate-past president KCCI A Abdullah Zaki and a number of members of KCCI’s Managing Committee.
The KCCI delegation briefed Nasir Masroor about a number of customs-related issues faced by businessmen and importers day in and day out. The delegation particularly briefed Chief Collector about the delayed clearance of import consignments due primarily to delayed grounding of containers.
The delegation also stressed the need for the revision of the Customs valuation at the earliest because the international prices of most of the imported items have decreased anywhere by 30-40 percent during last month alone.
Sources said Nasir Masroor listened to the plea of the KCCI delegation and assured to look into the issues. He agreed with many of the points raised by the delegation and issued instructions to the relevant staff to take measures to improve the delayed for examination situation, the sources said.
