KARACHI: Though Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah inaugurated half of the previously running 36 CNG buses on Sept 5, the Sindh government yet to approve a summary submitted a month ago for repair to the remaining buses.
The recently-inaugurated buses are plying on Quaidabad-Tower route while the remaining bus will run between Surjani and Tower.
The miseries of the Karachiites who as already been suffering from bad transportation system, are likely to aggravated with regularization of 60, 000 motorcycle rickshaws as announced by the Karachi Commissioner.
A spiraling city that generates over 70 percent revenue of the country and has the biggest population as compare to other cities, lacks any proper transport system. People are forced to travel in old, rusty and unmaintained buses. The big projects such as Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) and Rapid Bus Transit system have yet been on paper only.
On the other hand, reports said that the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation CNG bus department is likely to repair 22 buses and as soon as the funds are available for repair from the Sindh govt, the buses will be on the road.
