FAISALABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO), Jhang, has recovered a huge quantity of ladies smuggled cloth. The net weight of the seized cloth is 680 kilograms while its market value is Rs 529,000.
Sources informed Customs Today that ASO Superintendent Safdar Iqbal received information about some smuggling attempts. He constituted a raiding team comprising Asghar Mehdi Naqvi, Shaukat Khan (inspectors) Zulfiqar Ali Wahla, Zia Ullah Cheema, Muhammad Ajmal and Ahmad Bukhash (sepoys).
The ASO team intercepted a Mazda truck near Pindi Bhattian Road and asked the driver and his helper, identified as Musarat Iqbal son of Ghulam Mohammad and Muhammad Idrees son of Mohammad Sharif, to produce legal documents regarding the possession of the cloth, but they failed to provide any relevant evidence in this regard.
After their failure, the ASO team seized the cloth and forwarded the case to the customs adjudication for further proceedings.
