TOKYO: The Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, in a statement, said that Japan as part of G7 will support Ukraine and provide $7 million aid this week.
In a meeting with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko in Milan (Italy), he said that Japan would consistently support Ukraine through coordinated efforts within the G7.
The press service of the head of state reported that Abe emphasized that Japan had already been giving Ukraine $1.5 billion assistance. Due to the ruined infrastructure and the loss of industrial production, Japan is ready to provide Ukraine $6 million for the restoration of infrastructure and $1 million for medical assistance to injured residents of the Donbas.
The prime minister assured that his country was ready to support Ukraine’s application for a membership in ASEM.
Poroshenko said that the parties had reached an arrangement to elaborate bilateral agreement on the attraction and protection of investments. The president characterized meeting with the prime minister of Japan as “very productive”.
