ISLAMABAD: Telecom sector is excluded from the recently levied one percent additional customs duty, as most of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) related items are currently at lowest slab of Pakistan Customs tariff of 2 percent customs duty only.
This was stated by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) while briefing the Senate Committee on Finance.
It is learnt by publication of FBR that government is striving to promote the ICT sector by developing an encouraging environment for its growth and development in the country. The launch of 3G and 4G is one of the many steps in this direction.
Most of ICT related items like personal computers, laptops and printers are come under the lowest 2 percent custom duty. Similarly, peripheral attachments like key board, mouse, scanners, CD-ROM are also included.
