ISLAMABAD: In an ongoing anti-smuggling campaign, the Model Custom Collectorate seized textile fabric, imported perfumes and black tea worth Rs 11.310 million.
Following the credible information received through Islamabad Customs Collector Arslan Subuctagaen, a team of officials under the supervision of Superintendent Zargam Dil conducted raid and intercepted a Mazda Truck bearing Registration No. LES-15-7848 near Rawat. The officials recovered 1823 kilogram of textile fabric, including bosky and cotton, 375kg black tea, 20,966 bottles of perfumes of assorted brands.
The officials asked the person concerned named Iftikhar Khan to show documents regarding the legal import of items but he failed to do the same. Therefore, the customs official confiscated the consignment following the customs laws.
The Mazda truck carrying smuggled goods was coming from Peshawar to Islamabad, when it was stopped for checking. The fabric was china made, while the perfumes were European made.
FIR has been lodged against the accused person; Iftikhar Khan Resident Attock and he is also under arrest.
