ISLAMABAD: Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Assistant Collector Rao Fahd Iqbal has said that first time in the history of Islamabad Customs the ASO has conducted raids on several godowns including renowned pharmacists and seized huge quantity of cosmetics and food supplements and educated the people through media coverage regarding illegal activities of pharmacists.
Talking with the Customs Today during an exclusive interview, he said that during first two quarters of current financial year the ASO Islamabad under guidance of Collector Seema Raza Bokhari showed 237 percent extra performance during July to December of financial year 2019-20 against same corresponding period.
He said that during July to December 2019-20 the ASO seized smuggled goods worth approximately Rs 1100 million against Rs 326 million which were seized during same period of FY2018-19, adding that ASO seized Rs 764 million of extra revenue during first two quarters of current financial year against same past period.
Answering a query, first time in the history of the MCC Islamabad, all of these raids were led by Assistant Collector Rao Fahd of ASO MCC Islamabad and conducted with the assistance of Rawalpindi and Capital Police, adding that this all happened because of various rounds of meetings conducted by the Collector MCC Islamabad with RPO (Regional police officer) Rawalpindi, IG (Inspector General of Police) Islamabad and DIG (Inspector General Police) Motorways.
Telling the details of raids on godowns of Rawalpindi he said that ASO Islamabad has seized total 06 numbers of godowns located in Rawalpindi and registered FIR against the possessors of smuggled goods.
Telling the details he said that ASO has registered first FIR No.41/19 at Gangmandi Rawalpindi and seized smuggled goods worth Rs 45.48 million while grabbed Rs13.030 million under head of duty and taxes, adding that the second FIR of raid No.41/19 was also registered at Rawalpindi and seized smuggled goods worth Rs 23.405 million whereas Rs 16.689 million were fetched under head of duty and taxes.
He said that the third FIR No 42/19 was also made against godown at Rawalpindi worth Rs 18.979 million while Rs 30.398 million under head of duty and taxes were added to nation exchequer, adding that fourth FIR No.151/19 was registered with value of Rs 12.069 million.
Rao Fahd Iqbal further told that during period of July to December 2019 the ASO seized huge quantity of NDP vehicles, offending vehicles and other various smuggled goods.
