ISLAMABAD: Parliamentary Secretary for Finance Rana Mohammad Afzal Tuesday told the National Assembly that inflation has come down to 1.9 percent.
The parliamentary secretary revealed this while responding to a resolution. He further said that food inflation is one percent and non-food inflation is two percent. He said that the government should take steps to control the price-hike in the country. The House is transacting private members’ business.
Afzal said the government control the price-hike through an effective monitoring policy while it is also being monitored in regular Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) Meetings. He said the provincial governments also, through district price control committees, monitor price-hike in their respective provinces.
He said due to decrease in petroleum prices in the international markets and some other international factors price of cooking oils has reduced by 12 percent, potato by 25 percent while price of rice has also been decreased. He added that the price of steel has shown a considerable decrease.
