JAKARTA: The Technology Assessment and Application Agency (BPPT) will cooperate with the Port and Airport Research Institute from Japan to mitigate environmental damages on beaches and to improve Indonesian ports.
BPPT stated that one of the problems faced by Indonesia include damaged beaches, logistics distribution, and port management. Wahyu Widodo Pandoe, Director of BPPT’s Center for Maritime Technology Engineering said that one of the points included in the Memorandum of Understanding between BPPT and PARI was a study on beach damage prevention and port development in Subang.
Shigeo Takahashi, the President of PARI stated that the cooperation is expected to bring benefits to both countries. “On a greater scale, we expect the cooperation’s results can be applied, not only in Indonesia and Japan, but also in all Asian countries,” Takahashi said in a press release as quoted by Bisnis.com on Monday, March 28, 2016.
