KERALA: In a raid carried out by a team from the Kollam excise circle office at the Paripally public market on Monday, a 45-year-old man was arrested following the seizure 40 small packets of ganja from him. The arrested man was identified as Shanu, a native of Ezhipuram near Paripally.
Excise inspector P.J. Andrews who headed the team said that Shanu had been a drug addict for almost 28 years and he turned to peddling ganja to buy drugs for himself.
His clients were mainly students from Paripally, Chathannur, and Paravur, Mr. Andrews said.
The team also seized the Rs.300 he got through selling ganja. The team had been keeping a watch on the Paripally market area following a tip-off that ganja was being peddled there.
