KARACHI: The Pakistan Customs has arrested one Sunder Lal from the Jinnah International Airport Karachi for attempting to smuggle 50 tola gold to India. Customs and Taxation Court Judge Arshad Noor Khan has handed over the accused to the customs authorities on a six-day physical remand.
According to details, 50 tola of gold was recovered from the suit case of Sunder Lal who was on his way to Mumbai on November 13 on flight No PK-274. The accused had managed to pass through the airport security force’s check but the gold was recovered from his locked suitcase as the ASF opened it after it went through machine check.
The gold was concealed in a locked box inside the suitcase and was recovered after breaking the lock.
The ASF handed over the accused to the Customs officials after the recovery of gold worth Rs 2.325 million.
The accused was produced before Customs and Taxation Court by Senior Preventive Officer of the Customs Mahmood Ahmed on Friday.
