KASARAGOD: Indian Customs has seized 1.29 kilogram gold from KSRTC bus that was coming to Kasaragod from Bengaluru at Adoor.
Customs said they have got clues about the identities of the persons who were behind smuggling of gold through two persons by a KSRTC bus from Bengaluru to Kasaragod, after sending it from Dubai to Bengaluru.
Four men were rested named, Abdulla Kunhi (22), son of Jamal from Koliyadka in the district, and Mohammed Razack Rahman (26), son of Mohammed Kunhi from Melparamba.
The police said they would also be sending reports on the recovery of gold and its investigation to both directorates of revenue intelligence and customs departments.
The arrested man, Abdulla Kunhi, reportedly told the police that he and the other person were carriers of gold, and that the gold hand been handed over to him by a person named Moidu in the Gulf region. Razack said the gold in his possession had been handed to him by a person named Mohammed Rashid Rahman. The policemen are now concentrating on getting details of these two persons.
The police are now investigating about the possibility of these two persons having functioned as carriers for earlier smuggling incidents. They are checking their passports for clues on this aspect.
