DELHI: Indian customs arrested 4 men for smuggling red sanders worth Rs. 17.5 lakh from a car used by the gang to transport the contraband.
Customs official said that they arrested Sudhakar (32), a resident of Tirupathi; and S. Arun Kumar (35), T. Narayan Swamy (41) and A.Y. Narayan, all from Chittor in Andhra Pradesh.
Acting on information received that four persons would be transporting the wood and passing through Kadugodi check-points. The gang was travelling in one of the cars that were stopped at a check-point.
When questioned, they confessed to the crime and said that they were transporting the wood to Kattigenahalli. Based on the information, officials have formed a special team to nab other people involved in the crime.
