ISLAMABAD: Senator Mushahidullah Khan on Tuesday claimed that sit-ins and protest demonstrations by Imran Khan and Tahirul Qadri had cost the national exchequer Rs 900 billion.
Earlier, Commerce Minister Khurram Dastgir had claimed that the direct losses to the national economy due to the protest demonstrations stood at Rs 800 billion.
While talking to this scribe here, the chairperson of the senate standing committee on industries and production said that sit-ins had adversely affected domestic as well as foreign investments.
He claimed that the leaders of marchers were shaking confidence of foreign investors through their politics of adventurism.
He said that sit-ins and protest demonstrations had disfigured the image of the Pakistani economic abroad. Consequently, the economic policymakers of the government are facing problems in defending economic interests of the country, he added.
