ISLAMABAD: A single bench of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) Friday stopped power distribution companies (Discos) from collecting additional charges.
The court was hearing petition filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders including Asad Umar, Arif Alvi and Shireen Mazari who had alleged that National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) and Discos were overcharging consumers every month to maximise their revenues and prayed to the court to take a legal action against the authorities involved in over-billing.
During the course of proceedings, Justice Athar Minallah stopped power distribution companies from collecting additional charges on electricity tariff and issued notices to them to submit their replies till next date of hearing. The Discos include – IESCO, FESCO, GESCO, LESCO, MESCO, PESCO, QESCO, SESCO, HESCO and TESCO.
