HYDERABAD: The Customs Intelligence Field Intelligence Unit (FIU) has impounded two non-duty paid vehicles, including Toyota Crown Salon worth Rs 1.6 million and a Toyota Starlet Salon worth Rs 500,000 during two different raids.
As per details, Customs Intelligence Deputy Director Azam Khan received information regarding a non-duty paid vehicle on which he formed a team comprising Deputy Superintendent Sikander Hayat Khanzada, Intelligence Officer Irfan Ghani, Ahmed Hussain Joneju, Sepoyes Muhammad Imran Ali, Ghiasuddin Shah , Alimuddin, Hanif Soomro and Rao Abdul Sattar to conduct raid for impounding the vehicle.
The FIU team intercepted a Toyota Crown Salon bearing Registration No AC-2885 near Hyderabad Bypass and asked owner of the vehicle to produce documents regarding the legal import and possession of vehicle, but he failed to provide the same. Therefore, the officials impounded the vehicle and registered a case against him.
During another raid, the Hyderabad FIU impounded a smuggled Toyota Starlet Salon worth Rs 500,000 involving duty/taxes amounting to Rs 75,870. The vehicle was also impounded following the information received through Deputy Director Azam Khan.
A team comprising above-mentioned officials following direction intercepted a vehicle bearing Registration No G-6439 in the jurisdiction and asked driver to show documents regarding legal import of the vehicle but he could not do the same. The officials taking legal action impounded the vehicle under customs laws considering it smuggled and registered case against the suspect. Both cases will be sent to the Customs Adjudication for further legal action against the accused persons.
