HYDERABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organizations (ASO) Hyderabad took into possession Non-Duty-Paid Iranian High Speed Diesel, narcotics, betel nuts and other contraband items worth million of rupees in different raids during the last week of March 2018.
Sources told Customs Today that Collector Hyderabad Akhlaq Ahmad Khattaq directed his staff to curb the smuggling attempts in the region. Hyderabad Customs Additional Collector Dr Aamer Nawaz Hamid received a tip-off regarding the smuggling on which he formed a team of customs officers and officials to abort the smuggling attempts.
The ASO team, under the supervision of Additional Collector Dr Aamer Nawaz Hamid, conducted different operations in Hyderabad and Sukkar and Larkana areas and recovered a huge quantity of smuggling items. The seized goods include 60,000 liters and 18,000 liters of HSD Iranian diesel, recovery of 69kg of hashish hidden into the secret spaces of in Suzuki Mehran car, 2000kg of betel nuts and 70 sacks of Pan Praq and other contraband items worth million of rupees.
The official asked the driver to produce the documents regarding the possession of said items but he failed to so therefore the ASO team confiscated the goods and registered cases against the accused persons.
The officials seized all the items under the customs bylaws. The ASO team registered separate cases of smuggling against the accused persons and forwarded the cases to the customs adjudications.
