HYDERABAD: Collectorate of Customs, Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) seized 6,000 bottles of foreign origin whisky and registered a case against accused persons.
According to sources, the Collectorate anti-smuggling organization received credible information that huge quantity of foreign origin whisky is being cleared under the name of Ministry of United Arab Emirates (UAE) and being transported to Hyderabad.
Sources further told that the foreign origin whisky were purchased by Ghiyas Junejo who is son of renowned personality. Documents of United Arab Emirates were used for purchase of whisky for its onward sale in different parts of Sindh.
When customs anti-smuggling squad intercepted the truck near Hyderabad Toll Plaza two mobile squads of police without number plate and one Toyota Corolla car escorted the truck and resisted during checking of anti-smuggling squad.
Driver of the truck who was later identified by Yar Mohammad presented documents and goods declaration of Embassy of United Arab Emirates which showed import of 404 bottles of whisky and 20 cans of bear but during examination customs anti-smuggling squad found 6,000 bottles of whisky which is more than the permission granted.
