HYDERABAD: Collectorate of Customs generated Rs749.018 million customs duties and taxes during the month of January 2020.
Sources told Customs Today that Rs286.717 million of customs duty, Rs432.682 million as sales tax and Rs1.1 million were as federal excise duty 28.494 income tax respectively during the above-mentioned period.
The Collectorate collected Rs749.018 million during the month of January 2020 while it was assigned a target of Rs1126.700million as customs duty, sales tax, federal excise duty and income tax.
Major sources of tax revenue remained Hyderabad Dry Port State Warehouse, Sukkur-Larkana Division, M/s Rema Cooking Oil and others. The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) also seized non-duty-paid goods worth millions of rupees.
Sources told that under the supervision of Collector Khalid Hussain Jamali, (HQ), Deputy Collector Dry Port, principal appraiser and others played an important role in revenue collection, officials said.
The Customs Collectorate Hyderabad, Anti-Smuggling Organizations (ASO) Hyderabad, Sukkur-Larkana-Jacobabad Divisions aborted various smuggling attempts and made big seizures of non-duty-paid goods including nine non-duty-paid vehicles and goods.
The ASO team, under the supervision of Deputy Collector Kareem Adil , Deputy Collector Imran Rasool, Sukkur division comprising Inspectors Momin Shah, Saeedur Rehman Sepoyes, Dhani Bux, Shabbeer Ahmed Bhutto, Abid Ali, Abdul Razaq Akbar Ali Solangi , Hassan Nisar Drivers Sher Akbar and other staff took part in the operations.
Sources added that the anti-smuggling campaign is in full swing in the region following the direction of Collector Khalid Hussain Jamali to streamline the national economy
