HYDERABAD: Collectorate of Customs Preventive Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) and Sukkur division seized smuggled NDP vehicles & goods including HSD, betel nuts, foreign origin ladies art silk cloth, plastic shoppers, tyers, cigarettes, Indian gutka, welding rods, ceramic tiles and other goods worth millions of rupees during current month of July 2019.
Collector Khalid Hussain Jamali while talking with Customs Today said that he directed his staff to curb the smuggling attempts in the region and adopt comprehensive strategy in this regard.
The ASO team, under the supervision of Additional Collector Dr Aamer Nawaz Hamid conducted different operations in Hyderabad and Sukkur division, Jacobabad, Larkana, Dera Mor Check Post areas and recovered huge quantity of smuggling goods items.
ASO confiscated different items, including foreign origin huge quantity of Iranian High Speed Diesel (HSD) worth millions of rupees, non-customs paid vehicles including Suzuki Swift car with registration plate no: AYK320, Suzuki Jimny Jeep without registration number, Mitsubishi Pajero bearing registration NO-BC-8608, Hino oil tanker bearing registration no: y-0105, Hino truck 10 wheeler registration no: TKJ 985, Hino truck 06 wheeler bearing registration no-TKS-045 u/s(157), Hino truck bearing registration no-TKS no 839, Hino truck bearing registration no TKW-136 and other vehicles worth millions of rupees.
The ASO team asked the drivers to produce documents regarding the legal import of the items but they could not prove anything lawful. So the team seized the goods under the customs bylaws. Cases were registered against the accused and sent to the customs adjudication for further legal action. The ASO deposited the confiscated goods in Hyderabad Sukkur Division State Warehouse.
All the above-mentioned anti-smuggling operations were carried out under the supervision of Additional Collector Dr Aamer Nawaz Hamid and Deputy Collector Syed Kareem Adil, Deputy Collector Kalimullah Vagan from Sukkur division while the ASO teams comprised In-charge Hyderabad ASO preventive, In-charge Sukkur Division Syed Momin Hussain Shah, Inspectors Aziz Ahmed Katpar, Makhan Khan, Abdul Rauf Bhutto, Muhammad Iqbal Mughal, Wahid Ali Junejo, Umer Bhatti, sepoyes Shabeer Ahmed Bhutto, Abid Ali, Muhammad Ayub, Akbar Solangi and other staff.
The sources told that Collector Customs Khalid Hussain Jamali ordered the officials of the ASO to adopt zero tolerance policy against the smugglers who are out to destroy the legal business of the city.
