HYDERABAD: Model Customs Collectorate, Anti-Smuggling Organization, Hyderabad Customs Preventive Larkana-Khairpur, confiscated 63 kilogram of opium.
Following a tip-off, Customs staff of ASO squad (Larkana), MCC Hyderabad, on 24th of May 2017, foiled an attempt of smuggling of 63 kg opium valued around Rs130million in the international market by intercepting a trailer and arrested the driver of vehicle.
Collector Hyderabad Akhlaq Ahmad Khattaq directed his staff to curb smuggling attempts in the region. Sources told Customs Today that Additional Collector Rehmatulah Vistro received a tip-off regarding the smuggling. He formed a team under the supervision of Assistant Collector Mumtaz Ali, Customs Preventive Larkana comprising Superintendent Abu Muhammad Warsi including inspector, sepoys and others. The Customs staff of the ASO squad intercepted a trailer carrying two containers near Larkana-Khairpur Bridge and recovered 63 kilogram of opium which was being smuggled from Peshawar into Karachi. The ASO apprehended the driver of the vehicle.
A case has been registered under the relevant provisions of bylaws and further investigation is underway.
