HYDERABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) has impounded a vehicle Toyota Surf modelled 2000 without registration and recovered smuggled items, including foreign origin cigarettes branded Kinn, Oscar Millano, Pine Light and PUMA shoes, worth Rs03.3million involving duty and taxes of Rs03million during different actions at Jacobabad-Larkana checkpost inSukkur division.
About 1000 cartons of Kinn cigarettes, 250 cartons of Oscar Millano and 26 cartons of Pine Light cigarettes valued Rs805000, foreign origin (F/O) six sacks of schoolbags, velvet cloths, toys and geometry boxes worth Rs928900 during February 2017.
Collector Hyderabad Agha Shahid Majeed Khan directed his staff to curb smuggling attempts in the region. Sources informed Customs Today that Additional Collector Rehmatulah Vistro constituted several teams to foil smuggling attempts. These teams conducted various raids under the supervision of Superintendent Ghulam Shabbir Phalputo. The team also included Inspector Nasrullah Gilan, Inspectors Ayaz Ali Shah, Rahib Ali Abro, Abdul Wahab Sheikh, Muhammad Jurial Abbasi, Agha Nazir Ahmed, Sepoys Shabbir Ahmed Thebo, Iqbal Sheikh, Hawaldar Mehram Ali, Driver Manzoor Shori and other staff. The ASO team successfully seized abovementioned non-duty paid vehicle being used for smuggling transportation.
The accused failed to produce any legal documents regarding the possession of vehicles and items. Now ASO authorities forwarded cases of seizures to customs adjudication.
After the seizure, the ASO deposited the confiscated goods items into the Sukkur State Warehouse.
