HYDERABAD: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Hyderabad has impounded a non-duty paid Toyota Hilux surf modelled 2006 during a crackdown on Auto Bhan Road Hyderabad. The value of the vehicle is Rs20million involving duty taxes of Rs2.8million.
Hyderabad Model Customs Collectorate Collector Agha Shahid Majeed Khan received a tip-off that a non-duty paid vehicle is plying on the road. He constituted a raiding team under the supervision of Additional Collector Rehmatullah Vistro.
The ASO team, comprising In-charge Superintendent ASO Hyderabad Abu Muhammad Warsi , Inspectors Asaduddin Mirza, Muhammad Iqbal, Mushtaque Ali Lakho and Sepoys Mohammad Ayuoob, Driver Siddiqui and other staff, participated in the operation.
The ASO team intercepted the vehicle Toyota Hilux surf with registration No: BF-9778 modelled 2006.
The officials asked the driver to produce documents regarding the legal import and lawful possession of the vehicle but he could not show any documents. So the officials impounded the vehicle following the prevailing customs bylaws.
After making a seizure report, the ASO team deposited the impounded smuggled Toyota into Hyderabad State Warehouse.
Officials said vigilance has been enhanced against the smuggling of vehicles on the roads. All possible measures will be taken to curb the smugglings in the region by using all available resources, they vowed.
