HYDERABAD: Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) during first half of financial year (FY) 2016-17 confiscated non-duty paid goods worth Rs 165 million from Hyderabad, Sukkur and Larkana in various operations.
According to details, Customs Collector Agha Shahid Majeed instructed the ASO teams to conduct anti-smuggling operations against smuggled goods. The ASO teams confiscated various non-duty paid items including vehicles, high speed diesel, fabric, narcotics, auto parts, medicines, cigarettes, gutka, blankets, watches, tyres and tubes, toys, crockery, toiletries and electronic items in different operations during the above said period.
Sources told that confiscated goods includes Toyota Land Cruiser, Toyota Helix Surf, Land Cruiser v8, Land Cruiser Prado and other 11 vehicles, 37,151 yards of smuggled cloth worth Rs 1.206 million, auto parts worth Rs 3.9 million, electronic item worth Rs 1.4 million, gutka (all brands) worth Rs 2.841 million, Iranian origin 3.290 liters of high speed diesel worth Rs 1.35 million, 432 liters mobil oil worth Rs 1,97,000, foreign origin cigarettes of different brands worth Rs 3.581 million, 9,174 kilogram opium worth Rs 1.9 million and 239 kilogram weed worth Rs 5.5 million accordingly.
Sources told that the ASO teams confiscated 15,541 pieces of smuggled watches worth Rs 5 million and other miscellaneous goods worth Rs 13 million during the above said period.
Additional Collector Rehmatulah Vistro, Additional Collector Omer Shafique, Assistant Collector Mumtaz Ali and Assistant Collector Zam Zam Aman constituted the ASO teams. The ASO teams were comprising Superintendent Shabbir Phalphuto, Deputy Superintendent Sikander Akbar Pahnwar, Inspector Waqar Ahmed Baig, Inspector Ahmed Ali Shah, Inspector Karamullah Hujan, Inspector Syed Zagham Ali Shah, Inspector Shafi Mohammad Jamali, Inspector Rahib Abro, Inspector Nazim Ali, Inspector Shakeel Khan, Inspector Arif Khan, Inspector Syed Aqil Hussan Jafri, Inspector Mushtaq Ali Lakho, Sepoys Essa Chandio, Abid Raza, Nenomal, Umar Attiq-ul-Hassan Khokar, drivers Sadiq, Ijaz, Nisar Ahamdani and other staff.
