HYDERABAD: The Customs Collectorate Anti Smuggling Organization has confiscated foreign origin non-duty-paid auto parts old and used items worth Rs 1113800 involving duties and taxes of Rs 712275 during an action near customs check-post of Dera Morr, Jacobabad, Larkana-Sukkur Division.
Sources told Customs Today that Collector Akhlaq Ahmad Khattaq received credible information about some smuggling attempts. He immediately constituted a ASO team comprising inspectors, sepoys and driver, participated in the action.
The team intercepted a public transport vehicle near customs check-post, Dera More-Sukkur Division, and recovered above mentioned goods.
ASO team asked the driver to produce any legal document about the possession of the items but he was unable to do so therefore the consignment was impounded.
A case was registered and an investigation also started. Customs Collector Akhlaq Ahmad Khattaq had directed that effective measures be taken to curb smuggling attempts in the region. Collector Akhlaq Ahmad Khattak adopted a comprehensive strategy to foil smuggling.
