BUDAPEST: The number of internet subscriptions in Hungary saw a year-on-year rise of 12% in the first quarter, reaching 7.4 million, with more than 93% of subscriptions being provided by seven service providers, Hungary’s Central Statistics Office said yesterday.
Data from KSH suggest that private subscriptions accounted for 81% of the total during the period, with business subscriptions making up the remainder. This reflects a 2-percentage-point shift towards individual subscriptions. Wireless internet services, including mobile internet services, grew by 16% in year-on-year terms, with mobile internet subscriptions accounting for 65% of the total.
KSH said net revenue from internet services rose 6.2% from a year earlier to almost HUF 44 bln in the first quarter. Mobile internet services generated 38% of this revenue, up 11% from a year earlier.
