BUDAPEST: Hungary’s trade surplus reached 978 million euros in February, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) said in a second reading of data released on Tuesday.
The surplus was revised slightly downwards from 979 million euros in a first reading published on April 8. Import volume was up by 11.4 percent year-on-year to a value of 6.793 billion euros. Exports climbed 9.5 percent in volume to 7.771 billion euros in value.
The trade surplus rose by 111 million euros from a year earlier in February. About 79 percent of Hungary’s imports came from other European Union countries during the month. Almost 80 percent of its exports went to EU member states. Hungary’s terms of trade improved by 1.8 percent in January-February as the forint weakened by 0.2 percent to the euro and 4.8 percent to the dollar.
