ISLAMABAD: The government has completed homework for restructuring of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and the implementation would be made in near future.
Sources told Customs Today that newly-appointed FBR Chairman Jahanzaib Khan has already completed consultations with FBR Members and submitted his final report to Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Asad Umar.
In the first phase, FBR Members, including Member Operations Inland Revenue Habib Ullah Khan, Member Administration Tasneem Rehman, Member Facilitation and Taxpayer Education (FATE) Lubna Farrukh Mirza, Member Taxpayers Audit Nausheen Javaid Amjad, Member Strategic Planning and Reforms (SPR&S) Hafiz Mohammad Ali, Member Human Resource Nadeem Dar, Member Legal Dr. Tariq Masood and Member Accounting Faheemul Haq, and head of field formations will be changed.

Sources said that in second phase, Member Customs Zahid Khokhar, Member Policy Inland Revenue Dr. Iqbal and other officials will be replaced while Director-General Customs Intelligence and Investigations Shaukat Ali (who is already facing charges of corruption) will also transferred and will be assigned some responsibilities in FBR Headquarters and some other station.

Sources also confirmed that new members of FBR will also belong to field formations. On the other hand government is going to seek consultations of foreign experts to expand tax net, they added.
While in the final phase stern action will be taken against those officials and members who found involved in corruption.
