BUDAPEST: The number of home building permits issued in Hungary rose by 30 percent to 12,515 last year, data released by the Central Statistical Office (KSH) on Wednesday show.
The number of home building permits issued in Budapest jumped 73 percent to 3,170. In cities with county seat rights, the number climbed by 18 percent to 3,145.
The number of permits issued for homes in blocks of flats rose by 27 percent to 6,526. The number issued for detached homes fell by 8 percent to 4,652. The number of completed homes fell by 9 percent to 7,612 for the whole country, but edged down 4 percent to 1,929 in Budapest.
KSH noted that the percentage of homes built by property developers in the capital, as opposed to private individuals, rose from 59 percent to 66 percent last year. The average size of newly inaugurated homes was 101sqm.
