HONG KONG: Hong Kong Customs seized around 1.4 kilograms of suspected cocaine here the other day, which was not-so-craftily concealed inside packets of chocolate. The female passenger in possession of the sugary stash was arrested.
The woman was flying from Johannesburg via Dubai. On inspection of her luggage, Customs officers found seven packets of chocolate inside plastic bags, collectively containing 68 pellets of suspected cocaine worth around HKD1.5 million.
That’s an interesting take on the whole golden ticket ploy.
The 35-year-old arrestee, who claimed to be a merchant, was charged with one count of trafficking in a dangerous drug. She is due to appear in court today.
The maximum penalty for trafficking in a dangerous drug is life imprisonment and a fine of HKD5 million.
