GWADAR: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation in a joint operation with FC Baluchistan has seized Pakistani currency worth Rs7.0 million, which was being smuggled to Iran.
Sources told that Director Gwadar Customs Irfan Javed received credible information that local currency would be smuggled to Iran on a motorcycle via Jiwani Border.
He immediately constituted anti-smuggling squad which enhanced patrolling in the jurisdiction and subsequently the suspected motorcycle was intercepted. During checking , customs anti-smuggling squad recovered Rs7.0 million from the rider.
Sources told that after necessary legal formalities, the currency along with the motorcycle was impounded and further investigations are still underway.
It is necessary to mention here that Director Customs Intelligence and Investigation Irfan Javed directed to adopt zero tolerance policy against smuggling.
