GWADAR: Collectorate of Customs destroyed huge quantity of smuggled contraband items worth millions of rupees in the international market.
According to the details, Pakistan Customs conducted several successful raids in different parts of Hub during which several tons of smuggled goods were apprehended which worth millions of rupees in the international market. To destruct the seized contraband goods a ceremony was held near Hub here in which high officials of Pakistan Custom, Commandant Frontier Corps as well as Pakistan Coast Guard officers were also present.
During the destruction ceremony the Collector Custom Gwadar Dr Tahir Ali Qureshi informed media that in different successful raid the staff of the Pakistan Customs apprehended 434 metric tons of smuggled betel nuts.
Thousand liters of foreign liquor, 34 metric tons of sugar and salt, 90 kilograms of hashish, 24 kilograms of Indian origin naswar as well as Indian origin packed Gutka was also destructed in the ceremony, added the Collector Custom Gwadar Dr Tahir Ali Qureshi.
The Collector Custom Gwadar informed media that despite shortage of manpower the Pakistan Customs is playing vital role in curbing the smuggling activities were as smugglers are also busted which is very good sign and proves the professionalism of Custom.
He said that, “we only have sixty nine Custom Personnel within the limits of Balochistan and all the staff is taking care of bordering area of the province round the clock to busts any attempt of smuggling activity.
Pakistan Custom if working with other law enforcement agencies to monitor, conduct raid as well as apprehend the master mind involved in the heinous crime of smuggling, said Collector Customs Gwadar Dr Tahir Ali Qureshi.
He also informed the media person that the destructed contraband goods in the ceremony worth seven hundred million of rupees and it is routine of Pakistan Customs to destruct the apprehended smuggled goods
