KARACHI: The Modal Customs Collectorate of Gwadar has seized a huge quantity of narcotics and 22,000 liters Iranian oil during two successful raids.
Customs Collector Saeed Akram received information from reliable sources that a huge quantity of narcotics will be smuggled through a local bus. Consequently, he formed a team under the supervision of Deputy Collector. The team established a check post at the exit point of Amarha and started checking of vehicles. During the checking, the team intercepted a passenger bus and recovered 200 kilogram of charas. The team seized the charas but there was no one ready to claim its ownership. The Customs officials with the help of bus driver arrested three persons at the basis of suspicion and field case against them. Officials further said that from the arrested persons included, Shah Shaman, Shoaib Khan and Israr Ahmed. During earlier investigation they had denied to accept the ownership of narcotics. Officials said that the estimated value of seized charas is more than Rs 20 million in market.
In another operation, Gwadar Customs Collectorate received information Smuggled Iranian diesel was supplied out of city. Where as Deputy Collector formed check-point at Akber khan raoad and started the checking of vehicles. During the checking the team intercepted an oil tanker which was filled by 18,000 liters Iranian oil which was supplied out of city. The Customs seized the oil and arrested the driver for investigation. The estimated amount of seized oil is more than Rs1.3 million. The officials also impound the tanker which was used in smuggling.
