GWADAR: Collectorate of Customs team seized non-duty paid watches, LED TVs, and other electronic items worth Rs 9 million including vehicle being used for smuggling.
Sources told Customs Today on 10th January, 2019 morning that Deputy Collector Junaid Mehmood received secret information that some smugglers are trying to smuggle non-customs paid imported watches and other electronics items from Gwadar to Karachi.
After receiving this information, he constituted a raiding team under the supervision of Customs Preventive Inspector Atta ur Rehman and others. The team, during a search operation on highway intercepted a vehicle bearing registration no GMF-9841.
During the search, the team impounded more than 200 imported non duty paid watches, 50 pieces of LED TVs, 42 inches, 50 piece of juicer blenders, 100 automatic washing machines valued at Rs 9 million including truck being used in smuggling.
The team seized all smuggled items and arrested 2 smugglers. Sources told that customs officials after registering a case started investigations from the accused persons.
