ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Water and Power, Khawaja Muhammad Asif on Tuesday assured the All Pakistan WAPDA Hydro Electric Workers Union (CBA) that government will take all necessary actions to safeguard and protect rights of the employees of the DISCOs.
He said this during a meeting with all Pakistan WAPDA Hydro Electric Workers Union (CBA) delegation led by Secretary General Khursheed Alam and discussed the matters relating to the privatization of DISCOs, said a press release.
The Minister reiterated that the representatives of the employees shall be taken into confidence before any privatization process.
He further said that government will ensure, in case the privatization process starts, that the existing employees get their due share and rights.
He urged the delegation to come up with suggestions for improvement in performance of the Distribution Companies.
The minister directed that compensation packages for the employees shall be enforced across all Distribution Companies.
He lauded the role played by the employees of Transmission, Distribution and Generation Companies as they face severe challenges during performance of their duties.
The delegation members thanked the minister for the commitment to uphold the welfare and interest of the employees above.
The Secretary General, CBA said that the union and all employees are committed towards national interests.
He said that they will keep the national interest supreme and give preference over their own interest.
The meeting agreed that more coordination and engagements shall be ensured for discussion on all matters and frequent meetings would also be arranged in this regard.
The Chairman Privatization Commission, Muhammad Zubair and Secretary Water and Power Muhammad Younus Dagha were also present in the meeting.
