ISLAMABAD: The federal government gave approval to the formation of a customs border security force to curb smuggling and ensure transit safety of goods.
According to sources, the government eased restrictions regarding the new hiring for the force. The customs department has approved new positions from grade 1 to 21.
Sources told that the customs border security force personnel will be deployed at Afghanistan and Iran borders.
The sources further told that the anti-smuggling outfit will also man border crossings with India, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Tharparkar
Earlier, Federal Board of Revenue detected trade irregularities in cargoes under the Afghan Transit Trade. Following which the authorities introduced measures to ensure transit safety of goods.
