ISLAMABAD: All Pakistan Motor Dealers Association (APMDA) has accused the government of ‘intentionally’ delaying auto policy and said that yellow cab deal between Pak Suzuki Company and Punjab government is the main cause behind postponement.
APMDA Chairman HM Shahzad alleged that Suzuki Company had provided the Punjab government more than 50,000 vehicles for yellow cab scheme at discount rate and the government had not only facilitated the company in the budget of current fiscal year but auto delayed the policy to provide it further compensation.
It is pertinent to mention that Engineering Development Board (EDB) has demanded more time to work out the objections raised by Economic Co-ordination Committee (ECC).
Shahzad said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had promised to devise an auto policy to break monopoly of the auto assemblers, but in budget the government obliged car the said mafia i.e. auto assemblers and ignored interests of consumers.
