MULTAN: All Pakistan Bed Sheets and Upholstery Manufacturing Association has expressed grave concerns over the cancellation of license of its members .
Syed Muhammad Asim, former chairman of the All Pakistan Bed Sheets and Upholstery Manufacturing, has called step unjustified as the government has cancelled 1000 licenses. The sudden cancellation of licenses for the export of cotton yarn and related items are a kind of ban on exports.
He stated that millions of dollars export orders will be disturbed due to withdrawal of certification from cotton yarn exporters. The cancellation of certification notices from the government without giving any show cause is against the set rules and regulations.
“Due to this decision of the government, we offloaded containers and this step will close 100 factories in the country,” he said. The industry was already facing severe energy crisis and high manufacturing cost of goods which made stiffer for the industry to further continue their operations. He appealed the government to restore the licenses in order to save the cotton yarn industry.
